Write-London 2024
Write-London 2024 is a project for adults including those with complex needs coming together & engaging in creative activity to tell the stories they want to tell & to share that work.
Write-London 2024 offers people an opportunity to express & explore their creativity without constraint. In a series of workshops tailored to people’s requirements, participants will explore & create works of poetry, short fiction & life-writing. The complex issues that participants deal with may be represented in the work if the creator wishes it, but by no means will they be expected to write about them. The topics explored & used to inspire work are chosen by each group as the project progresses.
The artists facilitating the workshops are highly skilled and will ensure participants are safe when exploring their creative freedom & support is always everyone’s wellbeing. Working collaboratively over an extended period of time with experienced facilitators participants will be given the skills, support & confidence to express themselves creatively in writing. With their consent the work created will be published in print, online & exhibited.
Shepherds Bush Library which will act as a creative, community hub, being excellently connected by public transport. The workshops will be advertised across the local area. Some participants signposted to the workshops by local support teams. There will be two sets of workshops running to best ensure that the individual needs & requirements of all participants are met & to remove as many barriers to engagement as possible.
During the project there are a planned number of entry points where new participants who wish to join can. These entry points allow anyone to join or rejoin without feeling like they have missed out on anything.
From Write-London’s decade of experience it’s been proved that the potential participants this project aims to work with enjoy and embrace the opportunity to express themselves creatively, creating work which is vibrant, enlightening & of high quality.
At regular intervals during the project, participants will be offered an opportunity to take part in a feedback & reflection session that looks at the work that has been done to date & looking forward to the next phase of the project. This will give participants a greater opportunity to influence the project to best suit them.
